Main Avenue (Avenida Principal) The Avenida is where everything is,people walking, socializing amongst neighbors and friends, taco stands, have a taco, buy some groceries, pick out a piece of jewlery..old men hanging out on benches, passing the time. This is also where one gets transportation with taxis..catch a Pacifico bus to other destinations.Parades and processions..are always held on the avenida..with a captive audience of three different towns coming to watch.Catch up on local gossip,or just people watch..Essentially,the social epicenter of La Penita. The considered the principal entrance into La Penita. The Avenida runs West/East starting from highway 200 Tepic-Puerto Vallarta to the waterfront

Fishermen's Statue The recently completed fishermen's statue took several years of sculpting and hard work and was recently dedicated and permanently placed on the Avenida Principal..

The Church and Plaza The principal plaza and church set the stage for most important events in La Penita..with Mass becoming a central worshiping area and meeting place with your neighbors..the plaza becomes filled with locals at every parents bring small children to ride the amusement rides set up in the plaza.

BullRing(Lienzo Charro).. The main attraction to the bullrings..are massive dances..more like a Rodeo..young guys doing their best to ride that bull and hold on and less like a "BullFight" where the ending is final..always followed by a massive dance, plenty of beer, loud music and's usually an epic event where all the towns and ranches show up..from Zacualpan to Ursulo Galvan..

Fishermen's Market The majority of fresh Dorado and Red Snapper finds it's way here at any one of three different fishmarkets..home to a fleet of lanchas,..if the fishermen are not out fishing the bay of Jaltemba and beyond..they're usally playing dominos and drinking Ballenas(big Pacifico beer bottles)..and small tables scattered about the embankment of the Estero..

La Cruz,La Virgen Religious statue blessing all fishermen and surfers..or, essentially all who go out to the sea..wishing them safe from harm and a safe passage home.Located at the end of the breakwater,in between the two towns of La Penita and Guayabitos on the beach..

The Estero. The Estero is created by fresh water run off from the surrounding hills and mountains..and tidal changes in Jaltemba Bay..located in between the towns of La Penita..and Guayabitos..acting as it's unofficial border between the two.Running all the way out to the sea..walk to the waterfront and turn left..go all the way to the end.Or, from Guayabitos..walk on the beach as far North as you can'll run into rocks separating the outgoing water flow and protecting the two beaches of La Penita and Guayabitos.

Cable Suspension Bridge (Also known as the Bridge of Life) The Guayabitos Homeowners Association in conjunction with the communities of Guayabitos and La together and built a cable suspension bridge over the Estero so that tourists and local townsfolk alike could walk between the two towns without having to go on the highway...great way to access Guayabitos and see the two communities on foot..and a lot less dangerous than walking on the highway...located at the Northernmost end of Avenida Sol de Nuevo in the Residential Zone,Guayabitos.
